MiFID II Update February 2016

The FCA has now issued the minutes from the MiFID II Roundtable held earlier this month on 5th February 2016.

Whilst MiFID II is meant to be implemented in 2017, the FCA recorded that for implementing measures, the timeline is ‘uncertain, with adoption of the delegated acts expected no earlier than March’.

The City watchdog also recorded that, based upon reported comments in the public domain, they expected the European Commission to propose putting back the date of application for the whole of MiFID II by a year, to January 2018.

It seems the industry will continue to wait with baited breath as to whether MiFID II will to be implemented in 2017 as planned or pushed to 2018, either way firms should be preparing for the impact to their businesses.
