Latest MiFID II Roundtable

Last month the on 3 August 2016, the Financial Conduct Authority held another Trade Association roundtable in relation to the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II).

Since then, the FCA has now published the minutes from the MiFID Roundtable upon their website.

MiFID II Implementation

As can be seen from the minutes, a number of topics were discussed, including implementing measures for MiFID II, ESMA Level 3 guidance as well as UK implementation.

At present there is still an open FCA Consultation related to the Implementation of MiFID II, with comments due to the regulator from any industry participant due at the end of next month by 28th October 2016.

The Consultation Paper (CP16/19), published on 29th July 2016, seeks for industry views upon the FCA’s proposed changes to the FCA Handbook in light of MiFID II due to be implemented across Europe on 3rd January 2018.

CP16/19 is the second MiFID II Implemtation Consultation the FCA have published and the publication of a third  FCA Consultation Paper  is anticipated  which will likely include  changes  to  the regulator’s Conduct  of Business sourcebook (COBS), material on product governance and some further changes to the Perimeter Guidance Manual (PERG).
